Scientists in School

We are very excited to announce that Scientists in the School are coming to our classroom for the morning on Friday April 10th 2015. We will be learning about all about our planet and how we can help it in a workshop called Young Friends of the Earth. To make the day possible, we need a couple of volunteers. If you would be interested in spending the morning with us (from 8:40 to 11:15), please comment on this post, send me an email (Stephanie.Bauman@tdsb.on.ca), call the school (416-396-6165), or speak to me directly. Since we often have more offers than we can accept, volunteers will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Merci!

Warmer Weather

It seems like Spring is on it's way! Warmer weather is here but we would like to ask that you still send your child to school with snow pants and boots!! Although the temperatures may not feel like we need them, the children are still going outside every morning and at lunch - where they play in the snow that has not melted. We have a couple of extra pairs of snow pants but not enough for the number of students who have been coming without them. This leads to lots of wet clothes and unhappy children! Please make sure to keep sending winter gear until all of the snow is gone! Thanks :)

Also, unfortunately, we have to cancel PJ day on Friday. The class has been struggling with behaviour and silliness this week. Hopefully we will be able to do it sometime after the March Break.

You're Invited!

For those of you who do not know, tonight the Grades 1-8 here at Clairlea are putting on a show tonight at SATEC - WA Porter at 7 pm. Although kindies won't be involved, you are all more than welcome to come and see 'The Evolution of Hip-Hop' featuring the Mayhem Brothers. The students have worked very hard on their dances for the past month and it should be a great show. We've been continuing to work hard this week learning about geometry, feelings, and retelling stories. We've also begun to discuss simple machines and how they make our lives easier. We've been doing lots of different experiments with them in various centres throughout the class!

Please try to review things like shapes, retelling stories, numbers, and letters with your child! It seems that once we start talking about things in the classroom the students have been forgetting what they've learned! Take some time to play a little guessing game with your child when you can and have them show you all the neat things we're learning!

Finally, a couple of the students had the idea to have a pajama day in our class! They are all very excited so Mlle Crewe and I decided it would be a nice thing to do before March Break. So, Friday March 13, Room K3 will be hosting our very own pajama day. Please feel free to contact us with any questions :)
